Little derv help
ok so i love to play my derv every opportunity I get... but the fact is with their low armor they have a hard time doing what dervs SHOULD do best (use a scythe) I mean there is something wrong when other profs use your main weapon better than you can (war, sin). And the real crusher comes when peeps wont let you into groups because they know you are squishy, this is esp true in pvp were the avatars are not maintainable... yea yea get a guild group, pugs are evil I get it... but all they same balance is good.
So here are a few ideas for skills that I would like to see
both would be under earth magic... could put them in myst so they are restricted to dervs i guess.
both are stances cause enchants are just removed to easily (what do you think?)
[Mirage Cloak]
make it a stance
remove damage at ending
12 second recharge
duration 1..8..14 seconds
50% block chance
cost 5e
[new skill]
stance
cost 10e
20 second recharge
duration 10..20..24 seconds
+10..20..30 AR
renews when struck maybe?
anyhow what do you guys think? changes or other skill ideas are welcomed

The balance with Derv's relatively low armor is the amount of damage they pump out. No other profession can do the same damage in PvP.
[[Wounding Strike] is the derv's saving grace.
If you notice, almost all of their skills are pure damage, thats why its such a broken and hard to balance class. Either they do much damage, or not enough. To compensate for the extra defense you want them to have, you would have to have them do less damage, which would make X/Ds even more popular.
And btw, theres no reason to make new skills, there are pleanty of terrible ones, just change one of their functionalities.

I think sins come awfully close... not to mention they have some nice blocking stances that give them the protection they would be otherwise lacking (like dervs) in pvp

Sins are so broken they don't even belong in PvP.
They are like Dervs, pure damage, but they were given the most broken mechanic in the game and were/are extremely hard to balance.
Not many sins use blocking stances because it takes away from Crit Strike and their weapon att and takes up a very valuable slot in their skill bar because 3 of their 8 skills are usually devoted to attack skills.
Incase you couldn't tell, I dont like the new professions, they seem kinda half-assed as about 1/2 of them do nothing but pure damage.
So, Im not in favor of giving them something to make them stronger.

There is already a skill in this vein: [Conviction].
I feel your proposed skill probably wouldn't match up to Conviction.

You are supposed to pump your armour using enchantments. If they pumped the dervs armour they would have to reduce the energy regen. 4 pips of energy is like a spell caster.

Learn how to use the class, and experiment with secondaries. Dervish already has several skills to increase armor, block, heal, remove conditions, remove hexes, and run faster. Only 2 classes have more armor than a Derv, and those are Warrior and Paragon. Paragon never uses a Scythe, and a Warrior using a Scythe needs to sacrifice the elite for energy management.
Until I see a reason this should happen...

yea just noticed this skill yesterday... and its pretty close to what I suggested so no need for that skill
still it would be nice to have a decent block skill available to dervs something like mirage cloak just cheaper e cost
